with Lenten Music by Howells, Parry, Casals, Leigh...
Oxford Pro Musica Singers presents two masterpieces: Allegri’s Miserere, one of the most iconic pieces of choral music and a sublime setting of the Mass; that by the well-loved English composer Ralph Vaughan Williams. This is a setting which, whilst echoing the composers of the past, is full of the lush sonorities that are associated with early 20th Century English Music.
The programme is completed with music for Lent by both Vaughan Williams's contemporaries and others. We include two contrasting settings of the text 'O Vos Omnes' by Vaughan Williams himself and the noted concert cellist Pablo Casals. A harmonic treat if ever there was one!
