Sat 13 Oct, Exeter College
The chapel dominates the Front Quad of the College and plays frequent host to organ recitals, major services and various other musical and dramatic performances. The Chapel was built in 1850, and is an outstanding example of gothic architecture. The building and its decoration are in the style of the Sainte-Chapelle in Paris.
Facilities: Toilets, Bar (College members only).
As part of the worldwide #BernsteinAt100 celebrations, Oxford Pro Musica Singers are performing his iconic Chichester Psalms in the glorious setting of Exeter College Chapel. It is a tuneful, tonal and contemporary piece featuring modal melodies and unusual meters and is a firm favourite amongst choirs and audiences alike.
The programme is completed by the very best American Choral music with works by Aaron Copland, Randall Thompson and Morten Lauridsen. We also feature two works by the ever-popular Eric Whitacre: the achingly beautiful When David Heard and the wonderfully exciting and programmatic Leonardo Dreams of his Flying Machine.
