A Grade I, G.F. Bodley designed church and adjoining cloister that forms part of St Stephen's House, a Permanent Private Hall of the University.
Recently updated as a concert venue, SJE has underfloor heating and new lighting, comfortable chairs, a new toilet block, staging, and a Steinway D concert grand piano. The acoustic is superb.
SJE is on the Iffley Road opposite the University Sports Ground. Buses from Oxford city centre stop directly outside. Buses from London stop five minutes' walk away in St Clement's.

In an exciting programme headlined by a quote from Bryd’s “Come woeful Orpheus”, renowned vocal group “I Fagiolini” explore music science from the time of Monteverdi, going on to related music by Britten and ending with the wit and wisdom of Cathy Berberian and Flanders & Swann.
There is no dress code.
No babies permitted.

Tickets to the concerts on Wednesday, Thursday, Sunday and Monday afternoons and Monday evening are provided free to 8-25 years old through the Cavatina Chamber Music Trust scheme, subject to availability. Please email to apply for a ticket, or alternatively fill in this web form. A special student rate of £7.50 will apply for the Friday and Sunday evening concerts. For the Saturday Brian Cox events, the standard concessionary rate of £15 is available for persons under 25 years old.
